Greens in bonkers health policy shock

I didn’t think this one was especially cockbucket-worthy so I just posted it as a link in my facebook where it EXPLODED. The meat of it is that the Greens want to put alternative medicine on an equal footing with normal medicine in the NHS and find “other methods” for evaluating alternative medicine.

It’s a shame that an organisation that’s attempting to make the world better should be so anti-science. The very science that’s given them the quality of life that enables their mission.

They also have a bonkers attitude to stem cell research:

We would work for an immediate international ban on all cloning and genetic manipulation of embryos, whether for research, therapeutic or reproductive purposes.

Twats.

Even though I’m a member of the Green Party I agree with you.. I’m frustrated by policies like these but am convinced they will be ditched as our influence in politics increases (although that maybe just because doing the former is a prerequisite for the latter).

I would be worried about this if we were on course to win a the next general election but we’re not. The desirability of a strong Green party is because of how we could influence on decision-making surrounding things like climate change and other areas where their policy can appeal beyond the party (e.g. anything that isn’t stupid).

From my experience the policies discussed in that article are at odds with an increasingly large number of people in the party (I’m almost certain the majority of members disagree with banning stem cell research). I’m only guessing here but I imagine these policies are lingering from some conference decision a couple of decades ago and have yet to be ‘cleaned up’. I can assure you I will vote to this effect at every chance I get (which we do get to do!)
